SWL HPU / SWAGNET Sexual Health Data Report Q1 2009
The number of Chlamydia cases diagnosed have increased by 4.9%
Cases of genital herpes have decreased by 5.9%
Cases of genital warts have decreased by 0.9%
Gonorrhoea cases diagnosed have increased by 19.2%
Syphilis cases diagnosed decreased by 23.5% (as this relates to a small number of cases caution should be exercised during interpretation)
The number of cases of the above selected STIs have increased overall by 3%

A London clinical regimen for PEPSE has been developed along with a standard tariff. This has been endorsed by the London Sexual Health Commissioning Board and communicated to PCT Chief executives, Directors of commissioning and commissioners

Following reclassification from prescription-only to pharmacy medicine status, azithromycin 500mg is now available for sale over the counter (OTC) from pharmacies. The above guidance covers different routes of azithromycin supply through pharmacy. It takes into account the requirements of the Code of Ethics and outlines important points to consider when counter prescribing. Supply is also considered in the context of any national policy differences relating to Chlamydia services

‘Sex and our City’ – Report
The three reports from the London Sexual Health Needs Assessment and Service Mapping, which was managed by MedFASH for the London Sexual Health Programme with funding from the Department of Health are now available to download. The reports are available to download from www.medfash.org.uk and those of the London Health Observatory www.lho.org.uk and the London Specialised Commissioning Group. They are:Report 1: London sexual health indicators: a data-driven needs assessment
prepared by the LHO and HPA.
Report 2: London sexual health service mapping: results & analysis.
Report 3: Sex and our city: project findings & recommendations for London.An interactive web tool enabling comparison between sexual health indicators at London borough level, and a workbook with supplementary tables, can also be accessed on the LHO website
